No, Your Business/Organisation Does Not Have an ICT Problem...

This profound realisation is ultimately what led to the founding of Magezi Harvest Limited. We built it as a holistic, technology-driven consulting firm, distinct from our subsidiary, Magezi Solutions Ltd, which continues its specialized focus on software development. At Magezi Harvest, we don't just deploy software; we build the organisational capacity required to make that technology work.

Between 2006 and 2016, I spent a decade architecting, selling, and deploying software products to a diverse array of clients - ranging from non-profits and government agencies to private businesses and individuals. Across all these deployments, regardless of whether the software ultimately succeeded or failed, one common thread emerged: the dangerous predisposition that procuring a new software solution was the ultimate panacea for crippling organisational challenges. Unfortunately, this mindset still persists today.

What we often forget is that long before the digital age, the distinction between well-run and poorly-run organisations was already as clear as day. The world has always known how to recognise effective leaders and terrible managers. Even back then, employees rarely left their jobs because of bad tools; they left because of bad bosses. Technology merely magnifies the culture that already exists.

It was against this backdrop that I chose to step away from the traditional software vendor mindset and embrace a more holistic approach to business consulting. I realized that if I could help organizations resolve their underlying leadership and cultural challenges first, their software adoption and overall success rates would naturally soar. This realization prompted me to pursue both formal and informal education in business management and leadership - a pivotal turn in my career that I have never regretted.

Today, I consider myself more of an organisational systems evangelist than a software evangelist. Organisations need functional operational systems before they can even think about acquiring functional computer systems. Deploying the best software in a dysfunctional organisation - one suffering from a broken culture and a lack of leadership - is akin to applying expensive lotion to an unwashed body!

Over the years, this philosophy has shaped my approach. I have evolved into a selective consultant who exclusively partners with clients willing to look beyond their perceived need for an immediate ICT fix. I seek clients who appreciate the value of conducting a comprehensive diagnostic study to uncover the true ailments of their business. These root problems almost always lie outside the realm of technology. Once the foundational and cultural issues are solved, ICT adoption becomes child's play.
